We love swimming, and felt a little left out by the explosion of virtual running challenges recently, so decided to do something about it. That's how Swim the Distance came into being.
Whether you're a competitive swimmer or a complete beginner, you'll find a challenge that suits your needs. Maybe you're looking for some motivation, or training for that big event - push yourself! You never know how far you can go until you try.

How it works
Enter a challenge
Fill out a short form, selecting the desired difficulty level. Select a distance to swim in a month that you feel will be a challenge.
Time to hit the pool! Swim the distance you selected at your own pace, over the course of the month. Don't forget to record your evidence.
When you complete the challenge, submit your evidence and you will receive your reward - a unique medal that will remind you of your achievement.
The best way to reach a target is to challenge yourself
Once you've completed the distance you chose, all you have to do is send us some proof that you did it. This can be in any form - however you keep track of it yourself is fine. That could be a spreadsheet, or a picture of your sportswatch. Some examples of previous submissions are shown below. If you tell us you did it we'll believe you - we take the view that you're competing against yourself, so why cheat?
